It's a pleasure to meet you.

I’m Lang, a product designer creating useful things people love. Currently, I’m at Cherish Health designing companion apps for home devices that detect emergencies and risks to people's wellbeing.

I believe in compassionate digital solutions that connect, empower, and excite. Great design might not always change lives, but when done with care, it can make them a little better.
There’s nothing more meaningful than human connection, so let’s get to know each other—I’m sure we’d get along quite nicely. Open to full-time work, freelance projects, or just a good conversation.

Who I am as a designer

"Intellectual Humor" spec campaign. 2023, written and designed by me.

Where I come from

My 3+ years of experience in copywriting and graphic design have made me a powerful communicator with a tenacious creative spirit. I balance visual appeal with purpose to express the right idea to the right audience.

Unafraid of the blank page, I recognize how much knowledge, collaboration, and dedication go into creating the “obvious” solution—and what it takes to communicate that solution to others.

How I approach design

Proven design techniques and a curious nature inform my adaptable approach to problem-solving. I thrive in complex challenges that make me think, question, and learn.
My design toolkit includes observational research, interviews, mappings, wireframing, high-fidelity prototypes, and whatever else it takes to feel like the problem is solved—or at least moved in the right direction.

Sometimes, the best design tool is a pen, paper, and someone to bounce ideas off of.

A souvenir from my last trip—the French copy of the book that changed my life.

Why I chose design

I discovered product design by accident, in a university course I thought would teach me how to make websites look pretty. Instead, I found myself testing apps I'd drawn on a piece of paper and getting unusually annoyed at doors that pushed when it seemed they should pull. I began to realize how much of the world around me seemed to be created without regard for the people actually living in it.
Frustration at this disconnect grew into a dedication to creating things that make us feel understood. I view design as a form of human connection, and I seek to bridge the gap between person and machine, bringing people together in an increasingly disconnected world.

Other things I believe in

Urban spaces for people

Cities should connect us, not isolate us. I created this infographic to explain how Paris is returning its streets to pedestrians to combat climate change.

The thought counts

I love drawing gifts for birthdays, even if it means I give them a week late. More illustrations on my Instagram.

The importance of hobbies

I'm interested in too many things and often feel like there's not enough time to learn it all—but then I remember I have a whole life to do just that.

Live music is powerful

There is nothing like hearing your favorite song performed slightly differently live. The combination of the familiar and unexpected, along with the energy of the crowd, truly thrills me.
